Taiwan, Here I Come!
Mark has been a senior industry researcher for a multinational investment consultant company for some years. As his company emphasizes professional development for its staff, it has an overseas job-rotating system for employees with potential. Under this system, Mark had gained multinational research experience in Western Europe and North America by the time he was 35. Mark's company provides clients with excellent marketing research and operation advice, and has built up good reputation in the industry. Recently, they found that they were commissioned to do more and more cases focused on the mobile telecommunications industry in Asia. Indeed, the strong economic growth in Asia in recent years cannot simply be ignored, and the research and applications in Asia's mobile telecoms industry has become a yardstick in the world market. Mark's company decided to conduct an overall evaluation of this new industry.

They quickly compiled a list of experienced researchers for the project, showing that the project is highly valued. With his research experience and multi-lingual ability, Mark made it to the team. He chose Taiwan to conduct his research.

Mark admitted that he did not understand Taiwan any better than other westerners. In Mark's mind, Taiwan is a highly populated island, and it is hard to imagine how the impressive economic miracles have been created in this small country. Mark had also heard about Taiwan's profound culture, which stands out from other Asian economic tigers. In recent years, Taiwan has been leading the world DRAM and LCD industries and established its own brands. Taiwan's telecommunications products, with superb quality and quantity, fit the needs for both domestic and export markets.

Since he was young, Mark has been fascinated by Chinese calligraphy. He likes reading books about Chinese customs. Mark always thinks it's cool that an ancient culture sprouting in modern cities and Taiwan, he believes it would be the country that meets his expectations.

And best of all, Mark's fiancee Lydia will be able to take leave and visit Taiwan with Mark on his research trip!
